PrEP for HIV prevention
When taken daily, PrEP reduces the risk of HIV infection by up to 92% (CDC). It is important to stick to this daily regimen, and it is required to follow up with your healthcare provider every three months as part of your care.
UofL Campus Health Services offers PrEP to students at risk for HIV infection. The medication is covered by the student health insurance plan. For more information about starting PrEP, contact campus health services to make an appointment with a healthcare provider. If you don't have health insurance, we may be able to get you the medication at no cost to you.
If you are having difficulty obtaining Prep due to high copays, high deductibles, or lack of insurance, please visit Gilead Advancing Access for more information.
If you need to find a provider or practice that prescribes PrEP anywhere in the US, you can access the PrEP Locator. Please note that the PreP Locator does not list college health centers due to the CDC policy of only listing centers that provider PrEP to the general public.
